Professional Profile
Over thirty eight years of Project Engineering, Project Management, Interface Engineering, and Teaching including development of computerized data collection and control systems for the seismic industry, development of computerized power management and vessel control systems, and design, installation, implementation, and operation of Dynamic Positioning Systems and offshore pipe laying equipment.
May 2008, retired from a Bender Shipbuilding managing Electrical Design / Engineering. Recent consulting projects include FMEA trials and annual proving trials of three OSV / AHTS / ROV vessels, special survey proving trials for the Titan II MSV, root cause analysis of a black out on the Q4000 well servicing semisubmersible, and electrical upgrades on a fleet of DSV, ROV, and deepwater construction vessels. Jan. 2009, provided technical support for flowline installation in 9700’ of water at the Perdido Spar aboard the DMT Emerald.
April 2010, returned home from Singapore providing consulting services for the commissioning and start up of two deepwater heavy lift / pipe lay vessels. Reviewed and updated electrical / control design, oversaw factory acceptance testing of pipe handling equipment and winches, trained local staff in preparation for commissioning / FMEA testing, and participated reorganization of owner’s site team. Pipe handling equipment designed and fabricated by PH Hydraulics, tensioners designed and fabricated by Remacut.
Responsible for design, installation, implementation, operation and management of eight Dynamic Positioning Systems as an owner’s representative between 1977 and 2010.
Direct experience drilling over 12 wells in water depths between 2,500 ft. and 4500 ft. between 1977 and 1981. Installation of over two million feet of pipe in water depths up to 2500 ft. from Dynamically Positioned Pipe Lay Barges beginning in 1994.
